Service description:

The Group is moving towards Data-centricity, i.e. Data becomes a masterpiece in its strategy execution, and a Data-driven company. As Data Advisors, within the corporate Digital & Data department, we aim at facilitating and driving the entire organization to leverage data as an enabler to achieve its targets (strategic ambitions, innovation or transformation themes, objectives and regulatory compliance). Our mission consists in facilitating and driving the entire organization to leverage data as an enabler to achieve its targets:

One of the strategic pillars of the role of a Data Advisor is to close the gap between Business and Data. Together with subject matter experts, you define and design solid foundations for the Data in terms of Metadata, Responsibilities and Discoverability to leverage the Data Platform. The Data Platform. 

As part of a product team, the Data Advisor is moving rocks to improve Data Management practices and to ease them. The Data Advisor breathes respect, open-mind, dare, challenge, innovation, customer-oriented and team spirit.

The Data Chapter is looking for Data Advisor Services who will work on Data Initiatives at Belgium and Germany. It is an opportunity to mark your signature in the corporate Data Management.

What you will be doing

  • You contribute to improving the Data Governance methodology by providing feedback from the field.
  • You work with a Business Purpose, while breathing Data, Organization & People, Processes, and Technology.
  • You understand and analyze the Business needs.
  • You are looking for solutions that can quickly bring benefits and keep an eye on more-long terms solutions to ensure sustainability on mid-terms.
  • You leverage advising and training (i.e. Data Owners, Data Stewards, Business and IT teams) by and on-the-job coaching.
  • You continuously review and ensure transversality of the Business Glossary that defines the common and universal language within the company, by formalizing the Business definitions of data and their purpose.
  • You manage expectations from, and intensely collaborate and align with, multi-disciplinary stakeholders, departments and product teams.
  • You excel at bringing people with various backgrounds together to converge.
  • You are the ambassador of One Team for the Customer.
  • You always generate business value

What you will NOT be doing

  • You shall not act from an Ivory Tower.
  • You shall not define Data Governance methodology but will influence its evolution by providing retrospective feedback from the field.
  • You don’t make decisions for the Business but rather advise them with careful logic or showing your reasoning.
  • You don’t manage the data community, nor engineering, nor development teams.
  • You don’t define the details of the solutions architecture, nor the technical architecture, nor will you implement technical solutions.
  • You don’t develop systems.

Technical Skills (required)


As a candidate for this mission, you can demonstrate proven experience with similar projects, missions or employments, with skills that encompass:
  • Master knowledge about and have an experience of min. 4 years with these Data Management activities:
    • Data Governance – Mandatory
    • Data Quality Management – Mandatory
    • Metadata Management – Mandatory
    • Master Data Management – Mandatory
    • Data Classification, Data Privacy, Data Security, CIA Measures
    • – Optional
    • Business Intelligence & Analytics – Optional
    • Big data – Optional
    • Data Modeling – Optional
    • Data Integration & API – Optional
  • Rapidly understand the Business of Elia as a Transmission System Operator and its underlying concepts. Previous experience related to the Business of “Utilities” or “Energy” and its underlying concepts is an asset.
  • Language skills: fluent in English AND fluent in at least one of the following languages: Dutch, French or German

  • Continuously look at data in a transversal way (no siloes), across the entire Enterprise, to prevent non-sense solution.

Additional information:

  • Start: ASAP (and one advisor from mid-March)
  • End: Until 28/02/2025 with possibility of prolongation
  • Work regime: full time
  • Location: The workplace is Brussels, with occasional trips to Berlin.
  • Please include references to proven experience with similar roles and responsibilities in your offer.
  • We will share the proposals several times before the deadline.
