Software Engineer ETL - Senior

Description

the new BDI department is urgently looking for a Senior ETL Developer with knowledge and interest in Datastage and other ETL tools to join their team.

Responsibilities

Primary Tasks and responsibilities

  • Concept, Develop or adapt the applications for a domain as described by the functional and business analysis and in regards to user requirements.
  • Insure the well understanding of all the requirement.
  • Translate the functional and business analysis in programming language and architecture
  • Study and discuss the functional analysis with the designated internal contact.
  • Write the program in ETL and in regards to the quality standards
  • Conduct the Test driven development
  • Test the program in the integrated environment following the Agile method
  • Document the software
  • Report potential issues to the functional analysts proposing the optimal solution for the achievement of the best result
  • Evaluate the impact of potential changes on the software modules and report any potential problems

Secondary Tasks and responsibilities

  • Quality assurance
  • Write the test scenarios
  • Test the final solution as proposed to the end users
  • Document the test results
  • Solve testing problems and retest
  • Constant evolvement conducted in lessons learned after each milestone achieved
  • Put in practice the improvement actions and good practices of software development
  • Assist to team development through training and coaching of fellow team members

Skills

Technical profile requirements

  • Expert knowledge or practical development knowledge in ETL
  • Expert knowledge of Datastage: Dataset, Paramset, ...
  • Very good database knowledge (Netezza, DB2)
  • Very good SQL knowledge (Querying, Stored procedures in PL/SQL, DDL)
  • Very good practical experience in Modelling (Data Vault, Dimensional Modelling)
  • Very good Practical experience in Tooling - Required: IBM DataStage
  • IBM environment expert
  • Very good practical experience in Tooling such as: Atlassian JIRA / Confluence / Bitbucket (SVN), IBM TWS (IBM Workload Management), Jenkins, Unix scripting (ksh / sh / perl / Python),
  • Expert knowledge of Agile methodology

Methodology/Certification requirements

  • Master Degree in Computer Science OR equivalent through experience. Advanced course work in technical systems plus continued education in technical disciplines is preferred

Language proficiencies

  • FR and/or Dutch (one of the two is a must!)
  • ENG is a must!
