Application Support System Engineer (Linux/Windows)

Our client is looking for an Application Support System Engineer (Linux/Windows) Service

Service description:

We are looking for someone eager to learn, and able to learn quickly.

The main tasks will be the following: 
  • Assist on server architecture for deployment of new applications and middleware: analyze requirements, design new (or changes to) architecture, test and PoC, create implementation project and work with team lead in deploying it;
  • Challenge requirements versus security and manageability reasons;
  • Interface with (mainly IT) clients concerning area of expertise;
  • Third-line troubleshooting of complex issues.
  • Assist on day to day operational tasks like deploy and update all in-house developed applications in acceptance & production environments (mostly Windows IIS & SQL based);
  • Configuration of F5 load balancing VIPs for web applications
  • System administration of the supporting core applications: RabbitMQ, Redis Cache and other shared technologies – knowledge of these products is a nice to have;
  • Enforcement and monitoring of security guidelines and standards;
  • Monitoring, change and patch management of the environment;
  • Ensure optimal 2nd/3rd level (interface to Microsoft and other 3rd parties) support;
  • Keep operating and installation documentation for the above areas up to date;
  • Be part of the duty role (24/7, 1 in 6 weeks) in this team.

Requirements:

The ideal profile must meet the following requirements:
  • Proven experience in supporting Applications on Linux Redhat (deploy an application, verify logs, monitor health and performance of a system, create scripts)
  • Proven recent expert experience with Windows Server (2012-2019) (>10 years);
  • Proven knowledge of IIS management and web site deployment
  • Broad IT knowledge covering networking, security, end user, ITIL concepts.
  • Knowledge of Powershell
  • Nice to have: Knowledge of MS-SQL, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, NEO4J or Redis Cache is a plus (on the job coaching/training as operator will be provided in missing knowledge);
  • Understanding of firewalls and network load balancing concepts (product knowledge will be provided)

Non-technical Skills

  • Team player, but able to work independently;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Analytical skills for both architectural and troubleshooting work;
  • Pragmatic mindset and customer minded;
  • Presentation skills, Visio drawing skills;
  • Must be able and eager to learn new products or technologies (if not all of the above technologies are known, it is expected to learn them within a year maximum);
  • Must be natively French or Dutch speaking, able to speak and understand the other language – English mandatory for documents and international meetings, German is a plus;

Additional information:

  • Location: Schaerbeek, with occasional travel to Berlin (all travel expenses paid by the company)
